Have a Trouble-free Travelling with Kids

Though having a toddler with you on the road means more luggage and responsibilities, it is still something you can look forward to. Travelling with kids can add more fun to your holiday. You just need to learn on how to cope better when you are off to somewhere, travelling with kids:

Pick a destination that is ideal for the entire family. When you are planning a trip, make sure that you can consider your children first. Opt for those that are open for the children, such as beaches, retreats, parks, and camping grounds. You may also want to get away from those that have plenty of visitors, no city breaks or benches, and no shades. You can also search for hotels that allow you to keep your children in the same room as you and your partner without additional charges or perhaps those that extend free meals to toddlers. You can also choose accommodation options that offer child-related services, such as baby-sitting.

Keep your child busy and happy. Bring along a goody bag containing all the favorite and much-needed items of your children, such as food, books, games, toys, and other knick-knacks. In fact, come up with a great surprise for them, such as puzzles or dolls for your little lady and action figures for your little boy. Make sure that you can have them all ready at least a week before you on a trip. Do not forget to carry water with you, as children can be prone to dehydration especially when already in a flight. For food, stick with healthier options such as fruits, dry cereals, bananas, and raisins.

Plan your trip well. Ensure that there will be several rest stops all throughout the journey so your kids can have the chance to move around and stretch their legs and arms. You can also tag along toys such as balls, so you can play with them. Make your itinerary as simple as possible by not packing the schedule with too many sights to see. Make sure that you do not stay in one location for a very long time, or your children may get bored. Arrange the schedule that you can end your activities early and have more time to unwind later. To keep your children excited, you can show them photos of where you are going and describe in vivid details the things you are going to do there with enthusiasm.

Always keep your children safe. When travelling with kids, let your children wear more colorful clothing, so they can stand out in the crowd and easy to spot. You can also let them bring personal information you can keep in their small pockets. If you have a baby, ensure that his or her car seat is well installed. Always have your childproofing kit with you.

How to Make a Flight Fun With Kids?

A separate seat for the child
Make sure that your child has a seat of their own. Though children below three are allowed to fly without a seat of their own, it often makes more sense to buy a separate seat for them to allow them more space to travel comfortably. Many airliners offer tickets at discounted rates for kids, so check out these options before booking.

Rules for newborns
Before you plan your flight, make sure that you check with the airlines their regulations about flying with newly born babies. Many airlines have an age limit below which they do not allow kids to fly. The same rule also applies for women travelling while in advanced stages of pregnancy.

Make the seat comfortable
A trick that almost always works for kids travelling on planes is bringing their car seats along. Attach the seat to the seat of the plane and allow the kids to travel in the habit that they are used to. However, some airliners may have regulations against individual car seats, so be sure to check it out before taking the seat along.

Plan your seats in advance
Be sure to plan your seats in advance so that the entire group can sit together on the flight. There are certain seats such as the ones located beside the emergency exits which do not allow children. Be sure to avoid these while booking.

Pack sensibly
Be sure to pack some of the things that your baby is used to. Besides some chewable toys that you can use to divert the baby’s attention during the pressure changes within the flight as well as adding some small food portions and sippy bottles that the baby can use during the flight to your hand luggage.

Plan entertainment
Be prepared with your own set of options of entertainment for the child. Most of the in flight movies do nothing to appeal to the taste of kids; Carry a few of your child’s favorite games and dolls as well as story books and a set of crayons and coloring books. Be sure to pack all of these in the in flight luggage.

Bathroom visits
Make sure you get your child to visit the bathroom before the sign for fastening the seat belts appears on the monitors. Also ensure regular monitoring of your child’s bathroom visits to make sure that you are not stuck in soup in an air pocket situation.

Avoid last moment delays
Plan well ahead of time and leave the home early before a flight. Travel delays before a flight can be a situation of even more panic if you are travelling with kids.

Control your child
Be sure that your child in under your control during the entire time of travel.

The perfect kiddy seats
Choose the seats at the front row of the flight to allow your kids more leg space to be comfortable during the flight.
